Which is Heresy, Sabbathkeeping or Sundaykeeping?

Post by Goodman on Mon Jul 25, 2011 12:34 pm

Heresy as defined by the dictionary is a deviation from an accepted norm. Let's quote the dictionary:

Heresy is the rejection of one or more established beliefs of a
religious body, or adherence to "other beliefs." Christian heresy refers
to non-orthodox practices and beliefs that were deemed to be heretical
by one or more of the Christian churches. In the West, the term "heresy"
most commonly refers to those beliefs which were declared to be
anathema by the Catholic Church prior to the schism of 1054. In the
East, the term "heresy" most commonly refers to those beliefs declared
to be "heretical" by the First Seven Ecumenical Councils.

According to Paul, heresy is one of the indications that a person is
operating in the flesh, as opposed to those in the Spirit. These
heretic people will not enter the Kingdom of God. The exact passage is
    as follows:

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of
the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that
they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

We know the Words of God regarding the Sabbath. Some of these are the following:

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it
thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that
    is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and
all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD
blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Isa 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy
pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the
LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor
finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
Isa 58:14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause
thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the
heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Mat 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

In Numbers 15:32-36, God clearly judges a man gathering wood on the Sabbath Day to death. Ps 119:160, God's judgment endureth forever.

Those who follow along the line of the Roman Catholic Church, Sabbathkeeping is heretic, and Sundaykeeping is the will of God.

But from the Biblical point of view, it is Sundaykeeping that is heretic, and the Sabbathkeeping is the will of God.

What is at stake is your own soul.
