then, here is an interesting one:
d. ISLAM (Note that it is not Islam that will make you sick; it is when you remove the first letter that you have "slam" and getting slammed could make one sick.

Finally, if you are looking for a play of letters, then, this one could work:
e. MUSIC

I answered "SCOLD". If you remove "S", what would remain? "COLD" of course which is the most common thing that would make you sick.

I think we have to answer what the TS asked not we think was asked. If the TS actually asked for "what makes you sick", then "ILL" cannot make you sick. "Illness" perhaps, but not "ill".

Also, how about my ISLAM? and my many other answers?

The constant worry over becoming ill makes the sickness.
