I've left the Bereans forum because I said it was getting boring. What I didn't say was that I also left because I was turned off by the language being used there, and the same being presented as intelligent.

I think many of them are taught to be anti-Catholic at there own churches. And I think the root may be pride. Pride prevents them from considering that they may be wrong, both as individuals and as a religion. And it takes more faith to be Catholic than it does to be Christian, and pride prevents that as well.

I'm just aghast at their ignorance, don't they realize that Allah just means "God". It is a noun, but not a proper noun. The arabic bible translates God as Allah.

This God naming business is tricky. Many of the names of the Gods end up as the generic name of God as well. Two examples should suffice:

a. Bathala. The old Tagalog God is also the poetic name for any God. Thus, a poet or a lover would say, "Sana ipagkait ni Bathala ang iyong pagmamahal."

b. Diyos. We junked Bathala for the imported terminology -- Diyos. While Diyos is the generic (common noun) term for God, we all know it is also derived from a proper noun. Diyos is from the Spanish Dios, which is from the Latin Deus, which was derived directly from dear old Zeus, the chief Greek God.

Did you know that Malaysia wanted to ban Iban language Bibles that use the term "Allah" for God? The Iban minority in Malaysia have no other word for God.

Apologetics used to refer to Catholics defending the Faith against objections and errors of Protestants, other
religions, and secular society.

But so many Catholics have also fallen away from the belief and practice of the true Faith, that the more common apologetics today is intramural. Faithful Catholics defending the true Faith against errors, even heretical errors, which are held and promoted by other Catholics. But even worse, some of these unfaithful Catholics are speaking as if their promotion of error were a type of apologetic, as if the true Faith were an error that they need to argue against and correct in which I have encountered here and in the old Barm.

Huwag na nating pansin ang OLD BARM na iyon mga kapatid kong katoliko, yan din ang kahilingan ng ilang katoliko na nandun sa Old BARM.
