Adan, I can believe that there could indeed be detailed explanations in the Vatican about the levels of sin. It is just that I have difficulty reconciling it with the religious concepts of eternal punishment. Hell, as you know, is eternal and absolute pain. It is infinite; and you cannot slice or cut infinity because any fraction of infinity is still infinity.

Perhaps, you can help me understand. If one commits a venial sin, say you had sex with your girlfriend pero di ka gumamit ng condom para di magalit ang mga obispo, ano naman ang punishment ng venial sin na yan? Saan dadalhin ang guilty person/soul? Sa purgatory? Ito ba yung source ng concept of purgatory? Anong andoon sa purgatory? Mini hell? Cooler hell? or Temporary hell?

He exclaimed, 'By Allah I realise that I have had a wet dream and did not know it and have not done ghusl.' So he did ghusl and washed off whatever he saw on his garment, and sprinkled with water whatever he did not see.Then he gave the adhan or the iqama and prayed in the midmorning." (Malik Muwatta: Book #2, Hadith #2.21.82)

Though sexual intercourse in the state of ihram is prohibited and it does invalidate one's Hajj, experiencing a wet dream will in no way affect the validity of ihram. Therefore, your ihram is not invalidated.

In his well-known book, Fiqh As-Sunnah, the late Sheikh Sayyed Sabiq states,

A muhrim [Arabic for: a pilgrim who is in the state of ihram], who had a wet dream or ejaculated by thinking about or looking at a woman, incurs no penalty, according to the Shafi`i school.

Responding to your question, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states,

If you experience a wet dream in Hajj in a state of ihram, you need not worry; since it is beyond your control, it does not invalidate your Hajj; you simply need to perform ghusl (Arabic for: ritual bath in Islam).
