Post by fredms3 Thu Aug 05, 2010 11:26 pm

Let me post this:

Usage of pornography among criminals and juvenile crimes

Silbert, M. and Pines, A., in "Pornography and Sexual Abuse of Women," published their study involving prostitutes in the international journal Sex Roles, "The comments followed the same pattern: the assailant referred to pornographic materials he had seen or read and then insisted that the victims not only enjoyed rape but also extreme violence."[6]
The study, Use of Pornography in the Criminal and Developmental Histories of Sexual Offenders examined the exposure to and the usage of pornography in the histories of 38 rapists and 26 child molesters. The study found that both groups reported exposure to pornography and were "significantly more likely" to use pornographic materials prior to and during their offenses. According to the study pornography was employed to relieve an impulse to act out. According to the study, child molesters indicated "significantly more" exposure to pornography than rapists in adulthood
.[7]

According to the study, "Pornography Use as a Risk Marker for an Aggressive Pattern of Behavior Among Sexually Reactive Children and Adolescents", Sexually reactive children and adolescents (SRCAs), also referred to as juvenile sexual offenders, "may be more vulnerable and likely to experience damaging effects from pornography use." According to the study, the SRCAs who used pornography were "more likely" to display aggressive behaviors than their nonusing counterparts.[8]

Dati akala ko pornography is phonograph... My mother seems to affirm this dahil noon daw ikinasal sila ng papa ko pareho daw silang walang alam...and their early marriage life was not that pleasant as far as sexual life is concerned sabi nya dahil si papa ko ay walang alam na "technique".

They are known facts. But then, how many are they? Do they validate your claim that pornography leads to sexual deviance?

fredms3 wrote:How many coutries that allows imptn of porno materials and the likes?

If you read the reports, they named America, Japan, Germany, and the last was Netherlands.

Studies showed the trend of sex crimes dropped in those countries the more lenient the prohibition against pornography became.

fredms3 wrote:I don't have to argue because that's already prohibited in the country lols.

It sounds like you're saying you don't see a need to discuss the merits of the issue since you already have what you want.

fredms3 wrote:Oh sorry, but your mistaken that i dismissed those issues regarding the Bible. Read my post carefully.

Not the religion itself but the members of that religion. I hope you now get what i mean there.

Actually, you did, since you're calling for the banning of one based on an unproven assertion and not for the other whose complicity has been clearly shown.

Double standard, as I mentioned.

fredms3 wrote:5. I'm just returning the previous point your making against the Bible.

I know. Easy enough to see since you're trying to shift the burden on me instead of just answering the issues I raised.

That was why I put the question to you about the parallel situation of the bible.

It's funny that the only research you could find was one involving less than 70 individuals. It would be interesting to note how the research was done. But then, do recall that the studies I posted to do not refer to such a limited study but to national statistics.

And based on those, the facts are the opposite. Leniency towards pornography correlated to a drop in sex crimes.

It is true that there are some who have blamed pornography for their sexual deviance. But tell me, how does that one report contradict what I stated: Pornography is not the root of the problem.

PORNOGRAPHY - Page 5 Empty Re: PORNOGRAPHY

Post by fredms3 Fri Aug 06, 2010 10:58 pm

The battle now goes to researches...Let's start with Japan:

Pornography

In 1998, Japan was the world's biggest producer of child pornography and Parliament recently refused to pass a law banning the production of child pornography, citing "business reasons." (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes, Poona Antaseeda, "Expert urges global law to end child pornography on the Internet," Bangkok Post, 3 June 1998)

(The reason for not banning pornography ----- Business Reasons! wow...)

Prostitution

The sex industry accounts for 1% of the GNP, and equals the defense budget. (CATW - Asia Pacific, Trafficking in Women and Prostitution in the Asia Pacific)

The sex industry is a multibillion-dollar business that caters to every preference and is easily accessible ("Pornography Easy To Find in Japan," Joseph Coleman, Associated Press, October 1997)
One "sex zone" in Tokyo, only .34 sq. km., has 3,500 sex facilities, including strip theaters, peep shows, "soaplands," "lover's banks," porno shops, telephone clubs, karaoke bars, clubs etc. (CATW - Asia Pacific, Trafficking in Women and Prostitution in the Asia Pacific)
About a quarter of female students aged from 12 to 15 have taken part in telephone chat clubs. Male clients of telephone clubs pay to enter booths, and wait for private calls from women and girls, who dial a free telephone number from outside the club, often from their own home or a public telephone. The phone conversations usually fix a date to meet and are often a straightforward agreement on the details and price of the particular sexual act to be performed. (government survey, "Tokyo cracks down on teenage prostitution ‘clubs’," Reuters, 13 August 1997)
One third of all reported cases of prostitution are teenagers. (1996 National Police Agency survey, "Tokyo cracks down on teenage prostitution ‘clubs’," Reuters, 13 August 1997)

Enjo kosai or "supportive relationship" is the euphemism used in Japan for the prostitution of teenage girls. ("Japanese law would ban sex under 17," Agence France Presse, 24 August 1997) [catwlog9709a]
The Sexy-Up School in Osaka trains strippers and porn actresses. It offers classes in dancing, "bedroom techniques" and male sexuality. It has graduated 100 women since opening in 1996. (Yasuo Yaniyama, Director, Sexy-Up School, "Pornography Easy To Find in Japan," Joseph Coleman, Associated Press, October 1997)

(Why less sex crimes and rapist (as if prostitution is not a crime), well, prositution in Japan is easily accesible...wow!

Read this brothers and sisters and you will see the true pictures of Japan's shocking immoralities ---- wow!)

The Effects of Pornography

Defenders of pornography argue that it is not harmful, and thus should not be regulated or banned. Citing the 1970 Presidential Commission on Obscenity and Pornography, they conclude that there is no relationship between exposure to erotic material and subsequent behavior. But two subsequent decades of research based on the increased production of more explicit and violent forms of pornography has shown the profound effects pornography can have on human behavior.

Psychologist Edward Donnerstein (University of Wisconsin) found that brief exposure to violent forms of pornography can lead to anti-social attitudes and behavior. Male viewers tend to be more aggressive towards women, less responsive to pain and suffering of rape victims, and more willing to accept various myths about rape.1

Dr. Dolf Zimmerman and Dr. Jennings Bryant showed that continued exposure to pornography had serious adverse effects on beliefs about sexuality in general and on attitudes toward women in particular. They also found that pornography desensitizes people to rape as a criminal offense.2

These researchers also found that massive exposure to pornography encourages a desire for increasingly deviant materials which involve violence, like sadomasochism and rape.3

Feminist author Diana Russell notes in her book Rape and Marriage the correlation between deviant behavior (including abuse) and pornography. She also found that pornography leads men and women to experience conflict, suffering, and sexual dissatisfaction.4

Researcher Victor Cline (University of Utah) has documented in his research how men become addicted to pornographic materials, begin to desire more explicit or deviant material, and end up acting out what they have seen.5

According to Charles Keating of Citizens for Decency Through Law, research reveals that 77 percent of child molesters of boys and 87 percent of child molesters of girls admitted imitating the sexual behavior they had seen modeled in pornography.

Sociologists Murray Straus and Larry Baron (University of New Hampshire) found that rape rates are highest in states which have high sales of sex magazines and lax enforcement of pornography laws.6

Michigan state police detective Darrell Pope found that of the 38,000 sexual assault cases in Michigan (1956-1979), in 41 percent of the cases pornographic material was viewed just prior to or during the crime. This agrees with research done by psychotherapist David Scott who found that “half the rapists studied used pornography to arouse themselves immediately prior to seeking out a victim.”

The Final Report of the 1986 Attorney General’s Commission on Pornography lists a full chapter of testimony (197-223) from victims whose assailants had previously viewed pornographic materials. The adverse effects range from physical harm (rape, torture, murder, sexually transmitted disease) to psychological harm (suicidal thoughts, fear, shame, nightmares).

The Facts on Pornography
A day-care director, now serving three years for three counts of first-degree sexual assault, confessed the he had “started picking up pornographic materials occasionally, going to bookstores … no one knew, not even my wife … now I do recognize fully the shocking facts about pornography and how it will draw you into its clutches away from God into sinful fantasies …”

Multiplied incidents like the above graphically illustrate how the $8 billion-per-year porn industry has carved inroads into American life:

  • Nearly 900 theaters show X-rated films and more than 15,000 “adult” bookstores and video stores offer pornographic material, outnumbering McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. by a margin of at least three to one.

  • Each year, nearly 100 full-length pornographic films provide estimated annual box office sales of $50 million.

  • Approximately 70% of the pornographic magazines sold eventually end up in the hands of minors.

  • About 1.2 million children are annually exploited through child pornography and prostitution.7

If you are reading this you have probably unwittingly been directed to an internet pornography site. Almost everyone has. Because the demand is so great pornography, on the internet and in general, is so omnipresent you can scarcely avoid it if that is your aim. Internet pornography statistics may seem to be as incomprehensible as the amount of pornography itself, but certain research and news organizations have taken the time to do the math when it comes to the facts about pornography consumption.

PORNOGRAPHY - Page 5 StopwatchThe statistics are truly staggering. According to compiled numbers from respected news and research organizations, every second $3,075.64 is being spent on pornography. Every second 28,258 internet users are viewing pornography. In that same second 372 internet users are typing adult search terms into search engines. Every 39 minutes a new pornographic video is being created in the U.S.

It’s big business. The pornography industry has larger revenues than Microsoft, Google, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo, Apple and Netflix combined. 2006 Worldwide Pornography Revenues ballooned to $97.06 billion. 2006 & 2005 U.S. Pornography Industry Revenue Statistics, 2006 Top Adult Search Requests, 2006 Search Engine Request Trends are some of the other statistics revealed here.

The following top 10 list has been compiled using credible sources and appear here in no certain order. Anyone interested in Internet Filter Software and Internet Security Suites Software will find plentiful information about creating and maintaining a safe and secure internet experience at home and work.

I agreed buddy (with red).

Words in parenthesis are my comments.

First: You're attacking based on character and not addressing the actual facts. You are projecting your morality upon others and using that as an argument itself all the while ignoring what has been presented: Japan - for all your supposed "immorality" has a very low rate of sexual crimes.

Second: Prostitution is not the issue. Pornography is. Stick to the topic.

Character? What you read are all facts and not based as you alleged on character. That's the picture of how porno materials in Japan push them to such a deplorable immoralities.

Porno business and prostitution (both legal) works hand in hand -- how would porno business thrives in Japan without there 'zone sex' where one can just go in there and fornicate freely.

Now, what you're saying is that porno materials is not the root of sex crimes and the likes in Japan ----- Exactly, will i still commit such crimes if i can have all of these at my disposal freely and without fear of being encarcerated? That's absurdity.

Thanks and peace!

PORNOGRAPHY - Page 5 Empty Re: PORNOGRAPHY

fredms3 wrote:The Effects of Pornography

Defenders of pornography argue that it is not harmful, and thus should not be regulated or banned. Citing the 1970 Presidential Commission on Obscenity and Pornography, they conclude that there is no relationship between exposure to erotic material and subsequent behavior. But two subsequent decades of research based on the increased production of more explicit and violent forms of pornography has shown the profound effects pornography can have on human behavior.

Here we have a misrepresentation. Please look at the publication dates of the studies I presented.

I believe the earliest was in the late 1990's.

fredms3 wrote:Psychologist Edward Donnerstein (University of Wisconsin) found that brief exposure to violent forms of pornography can lead to anti-social attitudes and behavior.

I believe I have presented studies that show otherwise. Even more, I also presented national statistics that show otherwise.

It is also interesting to note how you continue to present localized studies yet neglect to address the national statistics that I presented.

Showing localized or isolated incidents doesn't actually serve to prove your assertion that pornography leads to sexual deviance - not when studies such as those of Dr. Kuchinsky exist which show drops in national statistics on sex crimes after the loosening of restrictions on censorship.

Far from it, it illustrates more what I have said before: Pornography is not the root of the problem.

fredms3 wrote:According to Charles Keating of Citizens for Decency Through Law, research reveals that 77 percent of child molesters of boys and 87 percent of child molesters of girls admitted imitating the sexual behavior they had seen modeled in pornography.

Sociologists Murray Straus and Larry Baron (University of New Hampshire) found that rape rates are highest in states which have high sales of sex magazines and lax enforcement of pornography laws.6

fredms3 wrote:Michigan state police detective Darrell Pope found that of the 38,000 sexual assault cases in Michigan (1956-1979), in 41 percent of the cases pornographic material was viewed just prior to or during the crime. This agrees with research done by psychotherapist David Scott who found that “half the rapists studied used pornography to arouse themselves immediately prior to seeking out a victim.”

I was wondering when this would pop up.

In 1992 the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) asked for a copy of this report. Detective-Sergeant David Minsk wrote back
saying that no such report existed. The criminal profiler for the Michigan State Police, Minsk confirmed that his department maintained the largest computerised sex-motivated crime file in the world. It was initiated in 1955 and continues to the present, with almost 75000 cases on file. As a result of requests from around the world concerning the report alleging a link between pornography and crime, Minsk attempted to
replicate such a study using the information that he had on computer. There are insufficient data, he wrote, to indicate anything other than a weak correlation between pornography and sexual assault, and even less information to suggest that pornography was used prior to or during sexual assault.

fredms3 wrote:The Final Report of the 1986 Attorney General’s Commission on Pornography lists a full chapter of testimony (197-223) from victims whose assailants had previously viewed pornographic materials. The adverse effects range from physical harm (rape, torture, murder, sexually transmitted disease) to psychological harm (suicidal thoughts, fear, shame, nightmares).

An interesting trivia about this report:

The report is divided into five parts and 35 chapters and details most aspects of the pornography industry, including the history of pornography and the extent of First Amendment protections. The report also documents what the committee found to be the harmful effects of pornography and connections between pornographers and organized crime. The report was criticized by some of the scientists whose research was utilized; they claim that their results were distorted and are incongruent with the final report. Some believe that Meese minimized evidence indicating that pornography is not dangerous, and others regard the commission members as a pre-selected cohort of anti-pornography campaigners. The report was criticized by many inside and outside the pornography industry, calling it biased, incredible, and inaccurate.

Additional trivia: It also used the Michigan State Police study as reference. You know, the one that the Michigan State Police said did not exist.

  • About 1.2 million children are annually exploited through child pornography and prostitution.7

http://www.forerunner.com/forerunner/X0388_Effects_of_Pornograp.html[/quote]

Trivia and data yet they once again don't show pornography actually being the cause of such acts.

Once more you show a propensity for attacking based on character rather than on merit.

I'll wait for your data on Germany and the Netherlands.
